Chaos Trials is unlocked via the Abyssal Insight Incantation. Each Trial rewards 1 
Star Dust. Trials can modify all aspects of your character, including 
Max Health, 
Max Magick, your equipped Nocturnal Arm, Familiar, and Arcana Cards, and even your starting Boons. Each Trial covers a single Region, and is completed upon defeating the Guardian. Trials may also bias which Door Rewards show up.
Chaos Trials are accessed via the Pitch-Black Stone in the Training Grounds.
Each Chaos Trial also has a Difficulty, measured in the number of eyes shown. The difficulty remains visible during the run.
